From the Celtic oppidum to Romanization under the Empire, this film takes you through the history of the founding of Nîmes through the destiny of a family, between 55 BC and 90 AD. .
The Maison Carrée owes its exceptional state of conservation to continuous use since the 11th century. It was in turn consular house, stable, apartment, church.
After the French Revolution, it became the seat of the first prefecture of Gard, then was converted into departmental archives.
