FOIRE DE LA SAINT MICHEL
For nearly eight centuries, we celebrate the Saint-Michel Meyrueis ... The Fair of St. Michael appears in the "Thalamus", a collection of franchises, customs and privileges of Meyrueis, in Article 39 of the statutes of the community and city of Meyrueis granted in May 1229 by the comtors (lords). This clause stipulates that all inhabitants must, under pain of six deniers fine, proceed to the cleaning of the streets and ways of the city, in front of their door, since the feast of St Michel until the fourteenth day following. This allows to deduce that the fair was then spread over two weeks. Today: we celebrate the quality of Lozère's natural products! After fittingly celebrating the International Cheese Guild in 2002. Given at the most recent Lozère Gourmet Brotherhood in 2003. The fair of St Michel offers you to make a pact with the taste every last Sunday of September. The brotherhood of Saint-Michel invites you to discover the cheeses, charcuterie, honey, jams and other treasures of our terroir. Artisans, producers of the Aigoual massif, fairgrounds and various activities or events (climbing, local folklore, demonstrations. ) will complete the program of this festive day in Causse - Aigoual.
